Jill Carpenter
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/02/business/dealbook/560000-acre-swath-of-florida-land-going-on-the-market.html This is just slightly over sized for my tiny house. Last year I began looking at this little nifty site which allows a payment plan without getting a mortgage: http://www2.landcentral.com/ When I was with the ex on his family farm, it was actually a tree farm on 303 acres. They had the tree guys come in there and clear out patches which covered the taxes I believe as well as gave them some income. They also leased out the front areas for the farmers to grow grass which went into giant circular bales. There were discussions of growing other crops needed locally for manufacturing or fuel needs. Have you thought about land investments? And what would you do with it?
