The movie trailer is all BFFs.

BTW...

Apparently Amit Singhal no longer works at Google, went to Uber for  something like one month and now no longer works there after Uber found out about a harassment claim from Google.

I don't see Garrett French mentioned, so I'm pretty sure that "SEO The Movie" is a link building stunt.

It's literally the world's nerdiest and most boring subject, who in their right mind outside of the industry would watch that?

"Hey sweetie, instead of Netflix tonight, were going to watch a movie about people writing guest blog posts. Sound good?"

Only people who live basic lives can actually get exciting about link building.

"Wow, we changed the subject line of our link outreach campaign and it increased our success rate from .8% to .9%, that's amazing, that's like an extra link every 10x eight hour days of writing emails all day long. Sick..." -Canadian without a television set who lives miles from civilization.

Excited Canadian Says: "This one time, we tried to do broken link building to a Viagra website, we totally thought it would work, but we found out that it didn't."

I didn't look too deeply into it. I'm not sure what kind of distribution they are going to have. Clearly won't be in theaters, and I doubt Netflix is chomping at the bits to get the distribution rights for this one. My guess is it will be on that website only, but not sure.

Yeah, I had heard about that. Uber made this huge deal about bringing him on board too.

IM sales gimmick.  Documentary - with a sell at the end.

Exactly, that's why I said the movie trailer is all BFFs. It's a circle of link builders.

This will end up being a white hat link building case study on moz, count on it.
